Life is busy

It’s a fact.

There’s work to do, kids to chauffeur to sports practice, anniversaries and birthdays to celebrate… Not to mention finding time to go to the gym and deciding what you fancy for dinner.

It’s a lot.

With so much on your plate, it’s no wonder you’re struggling to find time to work on any side projects.

By the time you get through all the day-to-day tasks, you don’t have the time or energy to work on anything else. You find yourself scheduling family time so you can at least spend some quality time with your significant other before hitting the hay and doing it all again tomorrow.

And because this cycle drains your time and energy, it keeps going. You’re stuck doing the same things day in and day out, and making little to no progress on the bigger tasks that need to get done — the ones that will actually make a difference in your life and help break you out of this rut.

Life’s daily distractions are keeping you from growing your business and getting the most out of life.

What if you could get away from it all?

Imagine waking up to the sound of waves lapping the shore instead of kids jumping on the bed. Imagine not having to worry about last-minute grocery runs and what you’re having for dinner — because someone else is cooking delicious, healthy meals for you. Imagine being able to switch your phone off guilt-free and really focus on what you want to do.

The Freedom to Focus Retreat is a three-day getaway designed to give you the time and space to get stuff done. Whether it’s your latest novel, an online course, or a passion project you’ve been itching to start — this is where the magic happens.

Each day is structured to keep you accountable, motivated, and moving forward with your project. You’ll be joined by a small group of high-achieving women who want you to smash your goals as much as they want to smash theirs.

Although the days are structured, you’re not bound to our timetable. If you hit a brain slump and need a break, you can always take yourself for a walk to the nearby beach or the local café. Or you can curl up with a book in one of our cosy reading spaces.

The Freedom to Focus Retreat gives you time to work in a way that serves you.

“The amount of work that can get done at Kath’s retreats is mind-blowing, but there’s also space and time during breaks to soundboard things you’re stuck on/unsure about, so it’s not all just silent working – and if you need a mental break the beach is right there!

If you have access to funding – whether creative grants or professional development pools via work or privately – it’s definitely worth the investment.”

About your host, Kath Cooper

Kia ora! I’m Kath, a Gallup-certified strengths coach, motivational speaker, and retreat planner.

Born in England and raised in Aotearoa New Zealand, I’ve built my life around learning, developing, and travelling. With four children, two businesses, one wife, and a dog, I’ve often got a mile-long to-do list.

As a task-oriented problem solver, I usually don’t mind this. But sometimes it can get overwhelming.

A few years ago I found myself struggling to balance life’s daily pressures with my ongoing work. I had a thesis to finish, two businesses to grow, and a family to look after.

I couldn’t keep going like this, so I did some research into productivity and accountability. I discovered that I work best when I have other people around to hold me accountable — and vice versa.

After hosting a few writing days at my home, I realised other women were struggling to find time to get everything done. They needed longer stretches of time away from their daily grind so they could really focus.

That’s when the Freedom to Focus Retreat was born: a three-day retreat for small groups of high-achieving women. I take care of the cooking, accommodation, and planning so you can focus on your most pressing tasks.

And it worked! Freedom to Focus is where I have my biggest breakthroughs and get the most done. Remember that thesis I mentioned? I wrote 10,000 words of it on one of these retreats!

Try it for yourself and see how much you get ticked off your to-do list.

“I’ve been to two retreats now and have been blown away. I am the worst procrastinator I know, but the supportive, creative energy at the retreat is enough to get even me going! I love having ‘all the things’ taken care of. As a working mum of three kids, I’m used to juggling everyone’s needs, and my own needs usually come last. At the retreat, it is the reverse. I put my writing first and come away feeling amazed and even proud of how much I have been able to get done.”

[At another retreat], I wrote one ‘found’ poem and that was it… At your first [Freedom to Focus] retreat I finished a play and wrote 7,500 words of a fun project. The last one I edited 18 short stories, future planned myself, researched and hashed out the bulk of Pateron plans, plus did 4 water colour paintings. It really is for those who are serious about getting shit done, and that’s what makes it special. It’s forgiving enough to not feel guilty, but because the group shares a focus/reason for being there, it’s so so motivating to keep working.”

Free Gallup Strengths coaching session

Everyone who attends the Freedom to Focus Retreat gets a free Gallup Strengths assessment and 1-1 coaching session with me, Kath Cooper.

The Gallup CliftonStrengths assessment goes beyond your run-of-the-mill online quiz to uncover your most authentic, unique self.

You’ll get a detailed report that reflects your truest self back to you (when I read mine, it felt like I was looking at a rich, full-colour photo of me). Not only will your report describe who you are perfectly, it will also help you understand your strengths and any challenges you need to overcome.

Before the retreat, I’ll take through your results and explain how you can use your strengths during your three days and beyond. You’ll also get an intention setting worksheet to help you prioritise your time away and ensure you get the most out of the retreat.
